Mainstream Hungarian Singer Releases the NFT Version of Her Gold Album
The Hungarian Magdi Rúzsa, who is a leading figure in the local pop industry, celebrated her return to the stage with the world’s first NFT gold album.
Magdi Rúzsa – a Hungarian singer who won the 2006 title of Megasztár (the local version of Pop Idol), Hungary’s nationwide talent search tv show – received the gold album award for her latest album „Karma”. On the occasion of the award, the singer’s music distribution partner WMMD (WMMusicDistribution Kft.) – first in the country – has released it in NFT (non fungible token) format as well. The album is certified by the influential Hungarian music industry association, MAHASZ (Hungarian Recording Industry Association).
„WMMD has always been keen to find tools and innovations that are not only spectacular, but that really help independent artists. We’ve been actively working with web 3.0 technology for almost 2 years now to incorporate elements into our service that our partners can benefit from. The first of our big web 3.0 projects this year is the NFT gold and platinum album, which we plan to follow up with more new features before the end of the year. This is not the only innovation in the area of gold albums, and our partners will soon be able to find out what other related features will be added to our service. We are very pleased to have found a partner in MAHASZ and to be able to launch this project together”, said Enikő Sebestény-Gallasz, Head of WMMD.
The Hungarian musicians and artist are getting more and more involved in the world of NFTs. We recently reported that The Bohemians Betyars „speed-folk-freak-punk” band were the first in Hungary to use cryptocurrency to create a special connection with their fans as they launched their album on a blockchain network as non-fungible token (NFT). We should also mention the Hungarian Dress-coding team too with its new digital clothing collection and Péter Weiler artist, who created and organized the first local NFT exhibition.
Similarly, last year May, although not the gold album award, the popular Kings of Leon released their album, titled „When You See Yourself”, in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT) and becoming the first band to ever do so.
